@sarahsstillhere: The goal should be emotional neutrality and acceptance, not expecting medical professionals to ignore an essential metric. #ed #recovery #weight #weightloss #bodypositivity
i think people don’t realize that recovery isn’t just eating again but unlearning and rewriting your ideas around food, health, weight, etc

I got pregnant when I was deep in an ED, extremely underweight. I think you make a great point here about being reasonable and self-aware. Like most mental illnesses though, the emotional/visceral responses aren’t something that someone can control. I needed to be weighed for my baby’s sake, but it would be such a mindfuck afterwards that I would have dread for days leading up to appointments. I would have had a HEALTHIER pregnancy if my providers weren’t announcing my weight every few weeks.

Just got a procedure done, I look up and say I don’t wanna know the number and asked if they could black out my weight and bmi on my discharge paperwork. Definitely not recovered but I know it’s my responsibility to give the doctors what they need while maybe looking a little weird to ones that aren’t as familiar with EDs
