For me, the movie is entertaining and funny, and I can see why many people enjoy it. Maganda naman talaga yung movie in terms of entertainment.
However, as someone who is part of the PWD community and has experienced having a cleft palate (ngongo), this movie affected me differently. I already underwent surgery, and that was one of the biggest gifts in my life. Thankfully, my speech improved a lot.
But watching this movie brought back painful memories of being bullied in school. It made me wonder if the creators truly considered how this could affect people like us before making it.
Even though Iโve already had surgery and improved a lot, I still feel shy and afraid to socialize because of the trauma and insecurities I experienced. Seeing this kind of portrayal reminds me of those struggles.
Sana maintindihan ng iba na what may seem funny to some can be deeply hurtful to others Hindi sana gawing katatawanan ang insecurities o kondisyon ng ibang tao.
Yes, some people may find it funny but what about people with cleft lip or cleft palate? We live in a world where many people are already quick to judge. Media has a big impact and I hope creators become more mindful of the message they send.
