Bonus info: A "schnitzel" is just a pan-fried flat piece of meat,and that's why there's also a Rahmschnitzel which is only pan-fried and with cream sauce and which comes WITHOUT the bread-crumb crust,and a "Wiener Schnitzel" is the fried one with that crust.That's why the word "Wiener" (="from Vienna") has been added,cause other forms of Schnitzel weren't fried and didn't have that crust.

If you want an American equivalent, look into pork tenderloin. We eat them with onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard on a bun.

I like most German food, but Wienerschnitzel is pork pounded flat and deep fried to remove any remaining flavor. Jaegerschnitzel and Raumschnitzel is fine, but hard pass on Wienerschnitzel.

I played a stern principal character in a in highschool named Mrs Wienershnitzel. And in the play, the other characters kept saying it wrong and I had to yell at them “SHNITZEL!!! WEINERSHNITZEL!!” And that’s the extent of my knowledge of it
