@dr.shawna: This one isn’t a hot take, but I do have a lot of citations. Today I’m talking about the concept of “trans fatigue,” algorithmic outrage, and why some conversations about gender, race, and feminism and solidarity are often very difficult to parse out in social media spaces. If the discourse has you exhausted, the answer is not to turn that exhaustion into resentment toward trans people or Black women, but to slow down, read, reflect and build better spaces for the conversations that are difficult to have in comment sections and sound bites. #DidYouKnow #EduTok #LearnOnTikTok #feminist #socialscience

Feminism should include trans women 100%. I think the term TERFS comes from trans activists or people not feeling centered in conversations around women, and women's experiences in feminism, and it being turned into a demonization of non trans women. My question is, if trans women feel they are women, as they should, then why do they not simply include themselves mentally and emotionally when topics of womanhood come up? why must they be centered or called out specifically if we all are the same? I think honestly this is where all of this turns into heated conversations, and devolves into all the conversations being had now.

Lots of thoughts but this is tiktok so I’ll choose one: your research and this conversation makes me think about how quick people are to comment the names of the people they think the creator is talking about in some attempt of support and also putting down at the same time

I would love to go back and get a PhD, but it wouldn’t be in feminist studies- but I would love to eke out any and all wisdom you have on the subject!!

I have not heard of transfatigue and Im not an academic. I understand you are standing up for trans-women, but many women seem to feel that people are putting trans-women before cis-women in the feminist space. I am wondering about your thoughts about the term terf being thrown around to silence cis-women expressing their lived experiences? And why trans-men are rarely brought up in these conversations?

This is great! I think a gap in the readings is trans feminist theory from trans women, who are so often left out of trans feminism. I like Susan Stryker and Sandy Stone! And the book Black on Both Sides!

I love this. I study anthropology...and you bring up a huge point that a lot of people are not generally aware of. the algorithms and they way they play into our online interactions these days. the way companies monetize human discourse and incentivize this "us vs them".
