On July 8, 1974, Deborah Gail Stone, an 18-year-old girl, was working as an attendant at Disneyland's America Sings attraction. During an intermission between performances, she got too close to the stage's movement area, where a rotating wall operated alongside a fixed wall. While trying to pass through or adjust something in the area, Deborah ended up trapped between the moving wall and the fixed wall, tragically crush€d by the mechanism. The impact was so sudden that there was no time to react—imagine a revolving door, but much heavier and without safety sensors. The incident occurred just nine days after the attraction opened. Following the accident, the attraction was closed for two days for investigation and safety improvements, including the installation of warning lights and the remodeling of the walls so that they would collapse in case of emergency. Despite this, the attraction reopened three days later and continued operating until 1988. Deborah Stone's d€ath led to a lawsuit filed by her family against Disneyland, resulting in a financial settlement.
