@ardrancarr: The Bible acknowledged generational patterns long before science had language for it. (Exodus 20:5 & Psalm 51:5) Today, epigenetics shows how trauma, stress, and unhealthy behaviors can influence future generations. Sometimes people inherit more than physical traits, they also inherit fear, dysfunction, addiction, and survival patterns. David saying he was “shapen in iniquity” reflects how people are born into broken systems that shape the mind and heart. But generational patterns do not have to become generational prisons. Romans 12:2 says: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Neuroplasticity) Through prayer, wisdom, therapy, Scripture, community, and renewed thinking, God can break cycles spiritually while renewing the mind psychologically.
