honestly i think tumblr was entirely capable of being toxic but it wasn't as "public" there because there was no algorithm and no major presence of like. celebrities and brands

I use tumblr still daily, but imo, it’s because tumblr acted as a containment zone. Once the ban happened, they flooded other sites, and it steadily got worse. Tumblr is still bad in places imo but nowhere near 2014-2016 period of Terrible.

the big downfall of Tumblr was when Yahoo bought it and purged the site that caused a mass exodus. I still use it but it's definitely not the same.
