@tinas_travel_diaries: You’ve probably never heard of Tochigi before. It’s a quiet little town in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, and only around 1 hour by train from Asakusa. That makes it a perfect day trip from Tokyo, especially if you want to explore somewhere less crowded. I stopped in Tochigi on my way back from Ashikaga Flower Park and ended up staying overnight at a small ryokan. On the same day, I explored the town and honestly really enjoyed the atmosphere. Tochigi is known for its old kura warehouses, traditional streets, and canals, which is why some people call it “Little Edo.” It’s much calmer than places like Kawagoe, but has a similar historic atmosphere. Things to do in Tochigi: 📌 Kura no Machi (historic warehouse district) 📌 Uzuma River & sightseeing boats 📌 Kuranomachi Museum of Art 📌 Yokoyama Kyodokan 📌 Tochigi City Hall Observation Deck 📌 Traditional cafés & sweets shops 📌 Tochigi Dashi Kaikan Museum 📌 Riverside walking paths #japan #tokyo #japantrip #japantravel #traveljapan
