On Friday August 8th I’ll be getting a below knee amputation on my left leg. I have a disease called Charcot Marie Tooth. I had a botched surgery when I was 14 that left me with permanent nerve damage, a muscle spasm and phantom limb sensations (with my foot still attached). For 25 years I thought this was something I was going to be stuck with for the rest of my life, and that thought was deeply overwhelming, uncomfortable & heartbreaking. A friend with CMT had amputation surgery last year and it was the first time I realized that there was something I could actually do to alleviate my grief. I know all the risks, but I’ve weighed the good and the bad and the good exceedingly outweighs the bad. Plus I’ve always wanted to be part terminator. ANYHOW. Michael will be doing the physical aspects of running my business while I’m healing - like shipping, FaceTiming me on thrift runs 😂, helping me with photography & staging & auction pick ups. I’ll still be handling anything online, minus like a few days post surgery in amputation rehab while I figure shit out. But I figure, let’s have a full website sale all this week!
