its AI optimization of resumes. AI resume screening (through an ATS, or applicant tracking system) works by scanning resumes for keyword matches against a job description before a human ever sees them. It's not reading for meaning or judging actual ability. It's pattern-matching text: specific skills, tools, titles, certifications, even exact phrasing. So if your resume says "coordinated projects" but the job description says "project management," you can lose points even if you did the identical work.
This is exactly why strong candidates get filtered out before they ever get a look. The system rewards mirroring the job description's language, not proven capability. Career-changers and people with non-traditional backgrounds get hit the hardest, since their real experience just gets described in different words. Some systems even auto-reject anyone below a score threshold, no recruiter involved at all. Formatting choices like tables, columns, or graphics can also confuse the scan and tank a score for reasons that have nothing to do with qualification.

If AI replaces entry level jobs, no one will ever able to build experience for higher level jobs that can't currently be replaced by AI. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen! Today's corporate greed becomes tomorrow's corporate problem.
