@thats_inappropriate: Am I wrong? I feel like if you live in my home it’s a common courtesy to let me know about your departures…#momlife #teen #college #adult
One: He's an adult.
Two: Did you have this conversation with him before bringing it to the internet?

I tell my newly adult son, ‘you don’t need my permission but as a courtesy, let me know what you are doing’

As an adult, who lives with a parent, you don’t have to ask permission to go out. But common decency dictates that you tell the people you live with that you are heading out.

Yeah, as the mom of a 23 & 26y now, you need to shift your mindset. He’s now your adult roommate, not your child. The alternative is that he just stops coming home from school to visit you, at all. It sucks.

You don't need to know where, just that he's leaving, so you're aware he's gone out.

He’s an adult. I disagree with you. If you don’t hear from him for a few days text him. He is fine.

He can do that, he doesn’t need to tell you anything. He’s 20, not 15.

I don’t think he HAS to tell you WHERE he’s going but I do think it’s common courtesy to tell you that he’s leaving to go out and he’ll be back at x time.

As an adult, I tell my husband and children (who are also adults) I'm going out. It's not about getting permission, it's about basic social skills and respect.

He absolutely does not have to tell you anything. He is an adult, he can do as he pleases. You might be concerned for his safety, but that’s no longer your job, it’s his. If you want this relationship to work out, you’re gonna have to have some trust in him. You’re no longer raising him, you may be helping him, but you’re not raising him he’s grown.

He IS an adult. He honestly doesn't need to tell you. However, it's respectful to tell you.

While he is at school does he tell you when he goes out? Of course not. Part of the process of letting go Mamma.
