@infiniteheartdrmay: One injection. A permanent change to your DNA. A 62% drop in LDL cholesterol. The first gene-editing therapy for heart disease was just published in the New England Journal of Medicine — and after nearly two decades of watching patients struggle to stay on their cholesterol medications, I think it changes everything. Watch to the end before you make up your mind. #PreventiveCardiology #HeartHealth #GeneEditing #Cholesterol #cholesterol

Dr. May Bakir :
Lp(a) is an independent cardiovascular risk factor — completely separate from LDL-C. The challenge is that we don't yet have a dedicated Lp (a)-lowering therapy approved for use. In the meantime, aggressively lowering LDL-C offers meaningful risk reduction. And notably, the PCSK9 inhibitors we already use - evolocumab and alirocumab - do lower Lp(a) by roughly 20-35%, which is a real added benefit on top of their LDL-lowering effect. As for Verve-102, I don't have specific data on its impact on Lp(a) yet - but given that it works through PCSK9 inhibition via gene editing, I'd expect to see a similar Lp (a)-lowering effect, consistent with what we see from the injectable PCSK9 inhibitors we have today.

People don't take them because there's always conflicting opinions about how bad cholesterol is and that confusion comes from the medical profession.
