Nope :
This always seemed overly complicated 20k in a S&S you make 5k so totals 25k sell 5k worth hold for a month that makes 4%. you then owe 22% of that 4%. To then reinvest the 5k for it to go go down to say 24k you owe 22% of the 4% you no longer have as cash so you have to sell your stocks or pay tax from another location but if you sell your stocks to pay the tax that cash will generate interest that you now owe tax on 😂 for an individual investor like me unless sites like 212 calculate that for you it’s a minefield.

So if I want to sell and hold off for a bit I can just leave a couple quid in still and the tax will be exempt?

question ... if I am a 40 percent tax payer and I put one penny in investment isa and the other money in cash.... on the interest I earn surely I would be better off paying 22 percent than 40 percent...

What? This makes no sense. They will just tax the interest received. Noting to do with investing 1p.

There was no plan. The Telegraph lied about the tax either intentionally or through ignorance. Instead of doing a correction they made it out as if there is a loop hole.
