The thought of the receptionist asking very earnestly and seriously “who’s your daddy?” Is killing me

My mother in law’s dad was a firefighter and she would call the emergency number to try to talk to him.

my mom's office was next to the receptionist desk so everytime I called I could hear her say "ugh tell her I'm busy I'll call her back" and she never did...after multiple call backs she found it in her best interest to take the call because I would start asking for her employees and talk to them instead 😂

my mom worked HR for a government agency so she had a very specific title and office she had to announce when she answered the phone, so I would match her energy and business voice. "hello ma'am, you've reached Jenni, your daughter from the bedroom department of The House You Own."

I used to call my mom’s office and say “can I speak with my mom?” and they were like “sure, one sec”, idk if I was the only child calling lol. Funny thing is that she was moved to another office and I called her previous office and they still transferred me to my mom XDD

My dad worked at a hospital when I was a kid and every nurse on his shift knew my voice because of how often I called for stupid reasons. "Just eat the popsicle baby, he's busy right now. I'll tell him I said it was OK. Oh you left your house key? I'll tell him you're at the neighbor's again."

Shout-out to my dads secretary who did this when I was a kid. Called him at work to ask if I could get my first bicycle and he came home with a tricycle with streamers 😭 my siblings were so pissed cuz he made them all do chores to "afford" one

Where I work, I answer questions about agriculture, horticulture and natural resources. My contact info is available to anyone in my county to ask me questions for free. Sometimes I get children on the phone. This is exactly what it’s like, and I always find so much joy in taking it this seriously - I think they appreciate it, too. I had one kid once call me and tell me that he and his brother were arguing because one brother said irl wool can’t build a house like you could in Minecraft, and the other said they could. Instead of their mom correcting them, she had them call their local agriculture educator to find the answer themselves. One was sorely disappointed 😅
