@customergrowthdoctor: PART 2 | If I was a perfume vendor in Surulere and nobody was buying from my page, this is exactly what I would do for 7 days straight. Not motivational advice. Not: “just stay consistent.” I mean real things I would physically do with: • my phone • my legs • my mouth • my time • my environment Because perfume business is emotional. People don’t buy perfume. They buy: • attention • attraction • confidence • compliments • presence • identity So if I was struggling to sell perfumes in Surulere, the first thing I would stop doing is posting bottles with music. That content is dead. Nobody cares. You need people to imagine themselves INSIDE the feeling. So this is exactly what I would do. First: I would stop trying to sell “perfume.” I would start selling situations. For example: Instead of: “Oud perfume available” I would post: “5 perfumes that make people hug you twice.” or “If you want your scent to enter the room before you do, wear this.” or “Perfumes that make people ask: ‘Wait… what are you wearing?’” That is what people emotionally connect to. Second: I would fix my page immediately. My username must contain: • perfume • scent • location Example: @scentbysandra.surulere My bio would NOT say: “Perfume vendor | wholesale | retail.” Too boring. It would say: “Helping men & women smell expensive without overspending. Perfumes that get compliments. 📍Surulere Lagos” Now I sound memorable. Third: I would create a: “Smell expensive on a budget” series. Because many Nigerians WANT luxury… but cannot afford Tom Ford or Baccarat. So I would become: “the affordable luxury perfume plug.” That positioning alone can change everything. Now this part is important. I would leave my house. Yes. Because online business owners think everything must happen online. No. Especially when nobody knows you yet. So this is what I would do physically. I would visit: • salons • lounges • barber shops • nail studios • gyms • hookah spots • fashion stores • restaurants • lounges • unisex salons • car wash waiting areas Anywhere people care about appearance. Then I would wear one INSANELY strong perfume. Very important. Because scent markets itself. Then while talking naturally, somebody will ask: “What perfume are you wearing?” That is the opening. Then I’d say: “I actually sell perfumes around Surulere.” That is softer than: “Please buy from me.” Now I’m selling through curiosity. Then I would carry: • perfume test strips • small testers • WhatsApp QR code • business card Very simple. Then I’d tell them: “If you like long-lasting scents, I can send you my top 5 recommendations based on your budget.” That sentence is powerful. Because now you sound like a guide… not just a seller. Then every night: I would post content based on REAL interactions from the day. For example: “Today somebody at the salon asked me why her perfume disappears after 20 minutes. Here’s the real reason.” THAT is content. Not random transitions. Then I would start a: “Perfume for different situations” series. Examples: • perfumes for first dates • perfumes for church girls • perfumes for men that want attention • perfumes for office workers • perfumes that smell clean after sweating • perfumes under 15k that smell rich • perfumes women compliment constantly • perfumes that smell dangerous Now your content becomes emotional. Now people start saving it. Now people start arguing. Now people start tagging friends. That’s how business pages grow. Not by posting products every day. Then this is the final thing I would do. I would message EVERY customer after delivery and ask: “What was the first compliment you got while wearing it?” Then I’d turn that into content. Examples: “My boss said I smell rich.” “Three people asked me what perfume I was wearing.” “My boyfriend wouldn’t stop hugging me.” THAT is what sells perfume. Emotion. Identity. Reaction. Not bottle pictures. That’s how I’d get my first serious customers if I was starting from zero in Surulere. Not motivation. Real-world strategy. #perfumeformen #perfumevendor #perfumeformen #perfumevendorinlagos #fragrance

This is one of the most practical, no-nonsense breakdowns for local retail marketing I've seen in a while.
You nailed the biggest mistake most small business owners make: selling the product instead of the outcome. People don't buy liquid in a glass bottle; they buy the double-takes, the room-filling presence, and the confidence boost. Thanks for sharing. 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
