@animalwelfareguy: Call came in for a dog biting a child. Nobody was in the room when the dog bit the child (owner of the dog was the roommate of the mother of the child). It was believed that the dog had most likely become possessive of the food bowl and snapped at the young child. Rocky loaded up well for me onto the truck but because he did bite someone I used the catch pole- not a whole lot of room for exceptions with dogs that bite people. #animalwelfare #animalrescue #animalcontrol #animals #dog
So he got taken away from his momma because someone else couldn’t take responsibility for their kid?

it's almost like you should teach children to stay away from animals when they're eating

That’s the adults’ fault, not the dog’s. No child should ever be left alone with a dog that is eating, or left alone with a dog while the child is eating. Poor guy has to pay for human stupidity.

Key words, NOBODY was in the room when the child was bit. Poor parenting on both parts dog & human.

aussies do bite. out of fear or out of protection or a correction, but never out of aggression. that poor aussie is scared.

Poor dog doesn’t deserve that because the owners don’t know the breed

Aussie are not biters. And typically not food aggressive. So it sounds like there’s more to the story.

here is the thing though some people dont teach kids boundaries on animals neither and the dog gets the blame for it. my kids from little bitty things knew to respect boundaries of animals and its so sad this beautiful pup is in trouble

poor baby, aussies can have very reactive temperaments sometimes but they are the sweetest driven dogs ever. they ALWAYS need to be properly trained before being around little kids

No matter who good your dog or pet is it, you don't leave it with a child. They cannot read ques from the animal.

This comment section is ridiculous. You teach your dogs not to be food aggressive, that's the first step.

I own two aussies, poor thing is scared. I don’t think anyone should leave their child alone with an aussie (unless certain circumstances). they’re known to nip and herd children, mine doesn’t even like children touching her

It’s a freaking Aussie what the hell is wrong with people - those dogs are so loyal and family oriented.

this is why people need to watch their children around dogs. 100% the child overstepped the dogs boundaries and was all in his face. poor guy.
