@quarter.acre.kitchen: I finally gave homemade laundry detergent a try. It took less than 5 minutes to throw together, cost about $4.50 for the whole batch, and works out to just a few cents per load. Here’s what I used: • 1 cup baking soda • 1 cup washing soda • ½ cup Epsom salt • ¼ cup coarse sea salt • ½ cup borax • Essential oils (optional) Mix everything together, store it in an airtight container, and use about 1 tablespoon per load. I’m all for finding simple ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality, so we’ll see how this one holds up. Have you ever made your own laundry detergent?
