Appreciate the update. The AHA/ACC guidelines actually recommends long acting thiazide-like diuretics like chlorthalidone and indapamide over HCTZ especially given more recent data showing better efficacy and CV endpoint reductions.

Baxdrostat, baxfendy by astrazeneca, is aldostrone synthase inhibitor that calm pressure in blood vessel. what extra advantage does it has than spironolactone if both of them oppose aldostrone?? inhibiting its production is not that much diffrent from blocking its receptor, soecially if there is no such thing called resistance by receptors of aldostrone. so why brand??

pharmacist and ex pharma sales rep here, we heard about it back in the early 2020s, the Cardiologists that i used to see were very optimistic, i hope it solves the problem of resistant Hypertension, now that I work in a pharmacy i'm seeing more and more of those unfortunately

I rarely use spironolactone (for hypertension) unless there’s some concomitant heart failure, combined hypokalemia with another fluid overload state, etc. In fact, I usually go to the alpha blockers before using spironolactone just because of electrolyte issues. I get it that it is a brand new class, but why use this new drug spironolactone? Are there any head-to-head studies between spironolactone and this one? Is the side effect data better?
