Ugh I live here too as a teacher and I’ve felt so oppressed by the beauty standards. I miss letting my hair be wild and dressing how I want and seeing all different kinds of looking people everyday 😐

I am 5’7 and I never felt that I had to shrink myself or not beautiful there, I even had multiple people tell me I looked pretty and I’m heavier built too. I had a good time when I was over there, so sad you felt that way 😢

I have been in Japan for 4 years. I have never felt beautiful anywhere but atleast in America no one actually looked at me and I didn't feel like every action I did was being watched by others.

Im on a temporary leave because I’m back in the US for school, but I would say I was pretty lost out there. I wasn’t dressing like fashionably like I did in the US and then as soon as I got to the US, I started dressing up again, and my husband who’s Japanese was surprise that I actually look cute again.
