if you live with a lot of shame, there is also a comfort in paying for someone's time because you know they are being compensated for "having to be around you". i have felt this way about therapy so i can kind of relate.

He’s very articulate about all he’s been through, but he should have worked on himself before getting involved with anyone else! Because he’s aware of the difference kinds of love he was expose to, he is always going to analyse all his relationships and compare it to what his understanding of real love is!

This is what I love about therapy: it takes you “there” so you can understand where your actions come from. It’s not about “justifying” behavior, it’s about understanding its history. And both of them are there to understand that. My pov is that he has a LOT to talk through, he should have 1:1 therapy as well…

Paying also keeps you in control. People can’t get too close even if that’s what you desperately want it’s too scary to let them. You stay detached, you stay in control. That’s what we’re taught as parentified children.
