@user133028200712: There is something profound about making the du’a of Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام on the very days his obedience to Allah is being commemorated across the Muslim world. This is the man we celebrate during Eid al-Adha — the man whose trust in Allah became a legacy for every believer after him. And Allah preserved his du’as in the Qur’an. These were not ordinary du’as. They were du’as that changed history. Du’as that produced prophets. Du’as that built civilizations. Du’as that are still being answered in the lives of believers today. One of the most comprehensive du’as for family, worship, and community is found in Surah Ibrahim: “My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day the account is established.” (Qur’an 14:40–41) رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ ۝ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ Rabbi-j‘alni muqeemas-salati wa min dhurriyyati. Rabbana wa taqabbal du‘a. Rabbana-ghfir li wa liwaalidayya wa lil-mu’mineena yawma yaqumul hisab. Ibrahim عليه السلام made this du’a after years of immense tests — after the fire, after migration, after leaving Hajar and Ismail in the barren valley that would become Makkah, and after raising the foundations of the Ka‘bah with his son. This is the du’a of a man who truly understood Allah’s blessings, and what it meant to ask from Him. Look at what he asks for: • “Make me an establisher of prayer.” Not someone who prays occasionally, but someone whose life is built around salah — firm, constant, and unwavering. • “And from my descendants.” He was not only thinking about himself. He was thinking generationally. He wanted worship and obedience to continue through his children and their children after him. • “And accept my supplication.” Despite his status as one of the greatest prophets, he still feared whether his deeds would be accepted. This is the humility of the righteous. • “Forgive me, my parents, and the believers.” Even in his personal du’a, he remembered the believers. Ibrahim عليه السلام cared about people he would never meet — including us. And this meaning is echoed in the Sunnah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “When the son of Adam dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim) Ibrahim عليه السلام understood the power of righteous descendants, lasting worship, and a legacy rooted in faith. So make this du’a today. On the days connected to his sacrifice, sincerity, and obedience. Teach it to your children. Share it with your family. Live by it. May Allah make us and our descendants among those who establish prayer and whose deeds are accepted. Ameen. 🤍🤲🏻
