FYI Pattie is the "bad guy" in this case. And it is scummy of them to try to represent this as something it is not. Patagonia had a relationship with Pattie dating back to 2022, and said it is fine for them to do what they want as long as they don't try to sell merchandise with the name. in December Pattie filed for a trademark using the name "Pattie Gonia" to sell clothing in competition with Patagonia. Patagonia sent them a cease and desist letter and said please stop. Pattie replied that they will not stop and that Patagonia will have to sue them. Companies have an OBLIGATION to sue IP infringers. it isn't optional. if you allow someone to do that, you literally lose the rights to your IP and it becomes public. What Patagonia is doing is not only the right thing for their business- but is the right thing for every artist, actor and creator out there. IP law is what allows you to establish your ideas and your style as you. it prevents people (and AI) from copying you for their own profit.
