On "Father and Son" "When I first listened to it I have to admit I thought it was a little funny, and that it kind of felt like the duo just playing around. After finding out the origins of the main vocal sample it filled me with so much sorrow and dread for the father; it was no longer just a catchy-drunkish song. The bells in the background sound so off kilter, alive yet dead- nightmarish, hinting to you somethings horribly off while the vocals ontop are so oddly chopped, sometimes having normal speech syncopation before going right back to being unsettlingly forced into rhythm just adds to it heavily. No other use of vocal samples have poked at me that much to pay attention. One other thing I notice is how the drums seems so driven, its destined to get where it's going and won't stop for anything, very much like how the sons so steadfast to get into this cult his dad's trying so hard to get him out of. And the cult itself is absolutely horrible. Twisting the Bible into excuses to justify forced polygamy, child sexual exploitation, and exclaiming that god wants everyone to fornicate nonstop, etc. It's the most depraved behavior humanly imaginable and he has to watch his son step into it willingly and so blindingly, trying anyway to convince him not to. Watching the video too for me was pretty challenging, seeing the pain in the fathers eyes after each attempt starts to fail infront of him. Imagining being a father and watching my child fall into that fills me with such a pit in my stomach. It's such a weird track and I never know how to feel when I listen to it, I wanna nod my head to it but I almost feel bad when I do with such heavy subject matter. I love how much it grabbed me and forced me to look into it, and it's amazing that the duo can accomplish that so many times."
