@joshstartsup: I Messed Up the Bathroom Stud Wall and Here Is How I Fixed It - UK Renovation Day 22 Day 22 and I have messed up again. Shocking I know. This time it is the stud wall for the bathroom. I used 3x2 CLS timber to build it which is correct but I also kept some of the old timber in to save on materials and cost. Perfectly logical on a budget UK house renovation. What I did not think about is that the old timber is a different size to the new CLS. So now the plasterboard will not pass it. The wall is built and the board will not go on. Very annoying, very avoidable and here we are. The fix is straightforward at least. Trim the top with the multi tool, remove the side and bottom pieces and cut new timber to replace them. More time, more effort, completely unnecessary if I had just measured it first. Everyday is a school day on this renovation. I am getting a very expensive education. I've built a travel app which I'm adapting into different markets like general budgeting, renovations and more. Just use plasterboard strips then then ply it as will be useful for towel rads etc

Just get a multi tool or chisel and chop it out as it cost you more in timber

Pack out with strips of plasterboard to double up the thickness where it lands on the new wood to bring it out 👌

rip it down and start again with 4x2. you'll end up having to overcome other problems otherwise. wall flex unless over boarding with osb, door liners, rockwool between studs (usually come in 100mm), if you want to install wall hung toilets between studs, sockets sitting back to back etc 👍
