My mom got one of those policies for me and my sister since my dad had cancer. When I turned 26 they let me take it over for myself with no gap in coverage so no health evaluations!

Yep I have had the cancer coverage for the last 15 years and it saved me to cover all my coinsurance for my recent breast, cancer treatments, and pay bills when I was off work

I was recently was let go because I was missing work due to everything you just explained. As a school leader, I didn’t want to take short or long-term disability, so I worked at least one workday a week from home. That seemed to be working until it stopped working for them, and I got terminated. I am now struggling to get COBRA or coverage because they only gave me three days for the end of the month in which I was terminated, which happened days ago. I did have cancer care with my insurance, but now I don’t know what that’s going to look like as I try to get COBRA or another form of health insurance. I regret not taking my time, as I am now fighting to get my PTO. I don’t think this topic is discussed among survivors. We are not thinking clearly because of the high level of stress we are under. It’s definitely a topic that should be discussed more often.

Depending on where you live you may also be able to get disability benefits through your state. There’s also Social Security benefits for disability too
