@mel_dub1: One of the biggest houseplant myths is that every plant needs its own special soil mix. Most of my plants start with the same three ingredients: potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark. The only thing that changes is the ratio. Think of it as having a moisture slider. More soil = holds moisture longer. More perlite and bark = more airflow and faster drying. That’s how I adjust my mix for everything from calatheas and marantas to monsteras, pothos, snake plants, ZZ plants, and even my Thai Constellation. What soil mix are you using right now?
Oh my gosh thank you for always being so helpful. I appreciate the simplicity in an over complicated hobby

I got tired and just made a chunky mix and put everything in it aside from my snake plants. year and half later everything seems happy, so it works for me lol

my indoors soil is mostly potting soil with a bit of perlite. why? i live in a very hot climate and when I'm at work, the house gets hot without the AC so the soil dries fast. so yeah, adjust the soil to YOUR environment

All my plants have the same canadian tire soil bag and they all thrive. I have monstera’s even a thai, fiddle leaf fig, cactus, pothos spider plants and more lol it all depends on the amount of water you give them

cactai/succulents-normal soil from outside
house plants premade rich soil with perlite with a addition of composted cow dung and if I am feeling good orchid bark or I just break up pieces form other wood bark types they all do great in it it's incredibly soft and oxygen rich all my plants love it

For my succulents I amend with chicken grit, lava, pumice, and pine bark fines. Perlite seems to float to the top when I water, so I quit using it. I also use almost zero “soil” in the mix.
