@reformedacres: How much space do you need for raising meat chickens from baby chicks to processing? I know it's probably super annoying, but just like everything else with livestock....it depends. It depends on your exact property, the amount of chickens you plan to raise, movable coop versus stationary coop, the breed of chicken, etc. 👌🏻 But here are our stats (for our old property) and I'm hoping they are helpful for you! We raised Cornish Cross 2-3 times a year in batches of about 25. Our property was just over 2 acres, and mostly open instead of being wooded. We used an 8ft x 10ft chicken tractor to move the meat birds daily from about 2 weeks old to 8.5 weeks old when we process them. The smallest spot we got away with was 0.11 acres, and the field we preferred to use had about 0.22 acres of usable space for the movable coop. Is this more or less space than you thought? 😊🐔 . . #chickencoop #homesteading #meatchickens #pasturedpoultry #chickentractor
