@paulbrunskill2: It takes a special kind of evening to leave every person in the room with a smile, and the installation ceremony at Loyalty Chapter No. 897 in St Helens was exactly that. With the warmth of a record-breaking summer outside and the warmth of Royal Arch companionship within, companions gathered to witness the installation of three new Principals. First Principal Gratten Williams, a familiar and highly regarded face in the chapter, stepped up to take the chair with humility and purpose, installed by outgoing First Principal Peter Whalley in a ceremony that set the tone for the whole evening. There were a few twists along the way. A Provincial dispensation was needed before proceedings could begin (Gratten was already serving as First Principal of another chapter!), and when Ian Edge was called away at the last moment, Chris Gleave stepped in without hesitation, performing the role of Second Principal with calm assurance and good humour. Malcolm McIntosh completed the trio, installed as Third Principal in a ceremony carried out to an excellent standard. The evening also brought wonderful news for the chapter: Lewis Henry Redhead was welcomed as a new joining member, proposed by John Gibbon and seconded by his own father, David. A unanimous ballot. A very warm welcome. Provincial representation came in the form of Mersey Valley Group Chairman David Atkinson, standing in for Provincial Grand Superintendent Mark Francis Matthews, who praised the high standard of the work and the spirit shown by all involved. By the time the companions made their way downstairs for the celebrations, one thing was clear: Loyalty Chapter is in very safe hands.
