I noticed author didn’t tell the basic use. Just so everyone knows MOSFETS are used for amplifying electrical signal, for example stereos.

MOSFET, a metal-oxide-semiconductor-field-effect-transistor. Used for switching and amplifying signals. Different than BJT or JFET transistors.

"The disk is spring-loaded" is not true for MOSFETs without any external components to tie the gate down or up. Gate is basically a capacitor, it won't magically discharge itself.
