having a conversation is always going to be my vote. asking about her life is a great idea.

Um, she sounds like a lovely friend. I can also understand how you don’t have any energy to deal with anything. I love the idea of setting and communicating boundaries. But I’d probably just figure out what they are, and communicate them as needed when it comes up. “I was going to come over to check on you” gets met with “that’s so kind, but I am in survival mode and the thought of company actually gives me more stress, do you want to go baby clothes shopping with me the Saturday after next?” Or after the second text of the day or the first… “I’m going to be resting this week, if I don’t text back, it’s because I’m spending time with my hubby” and so on. Doesn’t have to be a big convo, just clear consistent communication of boundaries as needed… always.

Plan the conversation then have it. Not everyone reads social cues the same and they need direct but kind communication. It can be done in steps even. Ex: send a proactive one saying you love her concern but you have different time frames in which you return texts and as an offer to “problem solve” so the friend and you have smoother timing issues. Friends who help like this are hard to find, (unless she’s creepy) so it’s good to work out the stress points together. “I have a problem and I need your help figuring it out” then mention a one or a few things

Valley this friendship, try to have a gentle conversation about this. Please don’t keep her in your back pocket just to use her as a resource to take care of your child. That’s not friendship. I would frame the size. I really appreciate your concern, but I’m getting dozens of text messages a day from people checking in on me and being worried and it’s raising my own anxiety. I’ve decided that I’m going to limit my communication. (responding to text messages) so that I can remain calm and focus on what I need to get done during the day when I have periods of good health. I really want to spend time with you and connect with you, so maybe we can schedule once a week check-in? And of course I’ll try to get back to you with news or updates as my peace of mind allows.

I don’t think this needs to be a big sit down conversation. Just say you’re needing a lot of time to rest and aren’t in front of your phone as often, but you’ll let her know if you need anything. Give her a chance to dial it back on her own

“Bestie, i appreciate how much you care but you are doing too much! I am getting stressed worrying about your stressing over me! I’m gonna stop texting so much while I recoup but I will check in a few times a week.”

Truth is always the best answer. “You are a dear friend and you are a very caring friend. I have been feeling overwhelmed by your constant hovering. You need space And would like you to text me less and stop feeling you have to come by if I don’t answer I value your friendship but a bit of space between us. I will call if I need anything or want to talk. “

talk to her and tell her the pressure you are feeling. you understand her concern but I can't manage responding constantly.

Okay, when listening to her story, my very first thought is the friend is not really a friend but someone who is doing her best to gain your absolute trust in her so that when it’s almost time for the baby to arrive, now hear me out, that she will m*rder you and cut the baby out, or when you have the baby, she will steal it from you. I know this is rare, but nonetheless it happens. Your friend is not a mentally stable person. Typically it is someone that inserts themselves into your life when they find out you’re pregnant, but my gut is telling me something is seriously wrong with her, seriously wrong. I know it’s reaching , but it was my first thought

I went through 3 pregnancies throwing up 35 weeks each time. Eating some protein and sucking on sour balls helped. Boundaries need to be placed with this person

the 2 nd option..we try for a 3rd baby..but I was older. when I saw pregnant women, I wanted to touch their bellies and talk to them. yes, I needed therapy, and I got it. well, I think everything you said for the second option is true. but you do need to set some boundaries and make some rules.
