@staugalligatorfarmzoo: Franklin is jawclapping for National Alligator Day! 🐊 Franklin, one of our American alligators who lives in The Lagoon, is showing off a jawclap display. In the jawclap, alligators remain motionless with their tails arched for about 15 seconds, then snap their jaws closed. It’s performed primarily by male alligators to establish territory, declare presence, and attract mates. Did you know that Dr. Kent Vliet studied alligator social and courtship behaviors here at the Alligator Farm? Dr. Vliet’s studies defined much of what is currently known about how alligators interact and communicate. We’re proud to have him on our Board of Directors! 🎥 Jordan, Reptile Keeper
