But personally, I think philosophy does something extremely important - it defines the boundaries of our current understanding and searches for new ones. Philosophy asks questions long before science is able to answer them. It helps humanity reflect on the consequences of discoveries, understand the limits of what should be allowed, and determine why knowledge matters in the first place. Modern ethics exists largely because philosophy continues to restrain the wild nature of science and experimentation, preventing progress from becoming a mindless pursuit of results at any cost. Philosophy searches for the foundations of morality, consciousness, free will, personal identity, and the meaning of human existence itself. It reminds us that humans are not just biological machines or collections of neural processes, but beings capable of doubt, empathy, imagination, and the search for meaning. Science is incredibly powerful at explaining how the universe works, but philosophy helps us understand what to do with that knowledge and why it matters.
