I think carrots are probably a bad choice for this experiment. They’re very sweet and have a distinct flavor. I feel like if you had a more neutral root veg like a daikon radish or something it might work better.

it's hilarious how every time someone is shown trying a vegan dish they always say something along the lines of "it's not as bad as i thought it would be". They never actually say it's good just that its not as horrible as it sounds

Intrigued! Forever ago, a friend served us vegan “smoked salmon”, it was thinly slides carrots and I assume also marinated and cooked in some kind is umami sauce. they were yummy, but I also like cooked carrots, so maybe I am biased
