So I interpreted this as being similar to turning page because turning page represents the real love mostly cause it took place during the wedding where real love was present, this was meant to be similar but different and you can tell even while be different it’s off because the love was never actually real and never meant to happen so they have a placeholder and those half notes or little notes you can tell is off show the times Nikki is trying to come out (like how they show suddenly and surprisingly and typically for a quick second) and show that it isn’t real, the battle between the two melodies for the lower and higher parts is a battle of the real Nikki and freaky Nikki fighting to take over but that’s just a theory
