The Przewalski’s horse is the last wild horse on Earth, and it shows. But what makes it wild? For starters, it has 66 chromosomes. Domestic horses only have 64. Yet somehow, these genetic rebels can still breed with them and make fertile babies. Science is baffled, but this horse doesn't care. It’s stocky, rugged, and built for survival on the cold, windy steppes of Mongolia. And the look? A thick dun coat, a dark dorsal stripe, zebra-striped legs, and a mane that sticks straight up like it’s ready for battle. Even the hooves are different. They are thick, strong, and designed to withstand rocky ground. They live in tight family groups and bachelor herds. Although they went extinct in the wild by the 1960s, they’ve made an epic comeback thanks to conservation efforts and the efforts of zoos. So yeah, this isn’t just a rare horse.
