Follow these steps to ensure your chicks get the best start at your farm!!! - Thoroughly sweep all the solid dirt from the walls, roof & floor, removing all the cobwebs & stuck in dirt & litter remnants from the previous brooding. - Wash the brooder with clean water using a detergent, ensuring it is well rinsed, devoid of dirt residues. - Disinfect the brooder by spraying the floor, walls & roof using a good mist of sprayer from water mixed with a good multipurpose disinfectant. Ensure all corners & crevices are reached. - Close the brooder under lock & key, with limited access until 24hrs before chicks arrive. - Fetch litter material with good absorbent qualities, preferably wood shavings, sundry & apply disinfectant through it. - 24hrs before chicks arrive, install enough space for brooding your chicks, & make it round or round edges using ply wood or boards. - Lay the litter material & disinfect the brooder one more time, reaching the walls, litter material, floor & roof. - Wash & disinfect all brooder papers, drinkers, feeders, waterers, mixing containers, brooder wear/shoes/gumboots & mix disinfectant for the footbath. - At least 2 hrs before the chicks arrive, Lay the brooder paper on the litter material, light up the brooder & heat it to approx 34-35° C using your heat source. - The brooder paper is important in helping the chicks maneuver easily within the brooder, provides an immediate clean & dry environment for the chicks to sleep, walk & feed on, while also acting as a perfect feeding station, improving feed access for the chicks for a good start. It also insulates the brooder. #farmtok #farmlife #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #myfarm #agriculture
