Those little strings will naturally attach to the trellis. They’re called tendrils.

After seeing this, I’m convinced Lowe’s had the plants mixed up. I bought a cucumber plant but they haven’t been vining and seemed more like a zucchini. Mine doesn’t have those stringy things at all
