@laborhoodbestie: I will always comply to the policy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I agree with the rules we have to enforce 😩 #laboranddeliverynurse #laboranddelivery #pregnancy #labor #birth

My OB said I “wasn’t allowed to eat” but that they don’t know what I do or don’t do when they’re not in the room. I had the BEST experience with her!

My nurse literally said to me “If I can’t find the portable monitor, you’re just gonna have to labor in the bed.” I was like 😐

I ate and got pain medicine around the same time and shortly after got sick. My older nurse made the comment slightly under her breath “this is why you don’t eat” lmao nooo ik my body and the pain medicine was too much for me. I would have gotten sick even if I hadn’t ate. My sister even made the comment afterwards saying she thought when they gave me the medicine I would get sick, because she knows how I am, but didn’t want to say anything to upset me. Yes I was hungry but I also wanted to eat to help me keep the medicine down.

Girlll you should be a birth doulaaa. My co worker was a CNM at a major hospital in our city and left to be a doula so she could actually care for women

Im so glad my hospital let me use the portable monitor while on pitocin. It helped so much with the pain to be up and walking around. And not having to ask to use the bathroom. Like at one point I had the strongest urge to go #2 and wouldn’t have made it if I had to call the nurse. I had just been checked and was only at 4cm. Also had my toddler in the room and he was very happy I got to be up and active with him. I think it made the whole thing easier for him to process and not be scared. Especially since he had seen me in the hospital only allowed to get up to use the restroom.

When I was induced with my 3rd baby they wouldn’t let me walk around because I needed continuous monitoring. Apparently their hospital policy is that all inductions no matter what need continuous monitoring. I understand the need for monitoring when pitocin is used, but I didn’t even need pitocin. They made me be hooked up from the time they gave me misoprostal until he was born

I encourage my patients to have clear things as they progress in labor. I do not encourage heavy foods. A lot of times it comes back up and I don’t want to see it. And our mag patients are never on clears, before or after delivery. They always get to eat unless they’re unstable.
