Man I do junk removal and people pay me to throw these away, some people even give me working ones to throw away. I usually give the working ones to struggling families.

Years ago I bought a front loader dryer from bestbuy. Something went wrong, I called their geek squad… guy comes out, told me to cancel the service request. He goes ahead and shows me how to disassemble the dryer, fix it, where to get the parts. Saved me like $500 service call to fix a $500 dryer, cost me $25 in parts and 30 minutes to do. Great guy! Still have the same dryer!

So unless you know specifically how to fix multiple problems our appliance repair guy is $120/hr. Looks like you spent 6 hrs on that. So I guess I’m $720 plus parts plus tax into a repair. Hmmm. Might just go used and see what your selling this refurbished one for.

As a maintenance man, those are my favorite dryers to work on so easy to replace damn near every part on that dryer.

Bless you for sharing. Another reason they are thrown out are the repair cost. It probably would have been close to $200 w no guarantee. It’s frustrating.

OK, the parts may be cheap, but the amount of knowledge that you have about dryers and what could be fixed is not cheap. It’s invaluable. The tools that you have, the space that you have to have it outside to take it apart. The knowledge that it takes for you to investigate. None of that is cheap. It’s all quite valuable.
