The concept of people criticising beauty standards, by criticising the bodies themselves, shows that nobody really cares about body positivity. They just want their body to be the positive. That’s why you see people leaving out nuance and context. E.g: White beauty standards are pdfilic. Ignoring that the beauty standard for them is to be tall, large chested, blonde etc. that then makes it easier to crowbar an equally harmful newer standard. “Don’t be skinny, get a BBL” one of the most dangerous surgeries. It softens the blow. Shaming a pretty girl who happens to have a flat chest by equating her to a child now means it’s easier to crowbar the idea of cutting open tissue near your heart to insert a silicone implant that might pop. The difference standards colliding has then created the, be thin but not too thin. Be curvy but not too curvy, but have curves. Be sexy, sell sex, be sex.
