@jessmarall: My top 5 vegetables that I grow every year that actually save me money. People often ask if I actually save money through growing my own - mostly no, it gets pricy sometimes. But these are the 5 things I grow that I’m convinced actually save me money. #growyourown #allotment #vegetablegarden #moneysavingveg
Agreed, not just the prices it’s the poor quality that pisses me off too! It’s already half rotten on the shelf or not ripe at all, and tastes so bland compared to home grown!

im trying my hand at fruit trees. a blueberry bush cost me the same as a punnet of blueberries from the shop. may not fruit right away, but it will be worth it the first time I get more than 10 fruits.

The opposite has got to be carrots. Huge amount of work weeding for a tiny amount of carrots. And the seeds probably cost more than a 20kg bag at the store. Waste of my time at best.

not about money, but my grandfather was a farmer and used to bring us zucchini that was like the size of a baseball bat! the first time I had to buy zucchini in the store, I had to ask where it was. when the guy showed me, I was like WHAT?!?! I was in shock

honestly for me its potatoes, i feel like theyre one of the easiest things to grow too, because you can just forget about them somewhere and then you can plant them once you find them 😂

Don’t buy tomato seed. Squish the seed onto kitchen roll, let them dry out and save them in a paper envelope for next year. Tomatoes for free.
