As a self employed on low income it doesn’t work that way ! I am on 37K a year . I put 20K in ISA and 15K in SIPP … I was taxed on 37 that included my SIPP , then I will pay tax when I take it out of the SIPP …… double taxation! It sucks if you are on low income . That rule goes only for 60K + income

user1909575451975 :
planning on investing £200 a month for the next 30 years? Is my best option through a SiPP and then invest through the sipp into a world index fund? Or would it be better to do it through a stocks and shares isa? I feel like a SIPP is a better option but if you could let me know what would be better would be much appreciated mate 👊

For a LTD company owner yes. But when you take out that ability to offset corp tax then the saving is only on NI contributions. Since you can put the money back into a SIPP from an ISA in the few years leading up to retirement should you wish and get the tax back? The overall gap isn’t as big as this, and almost zero if you’re not a ltd company?

Not that much in it if you want to take it all in one go. After income tax you’d be left with 171k from the SIPP

SIPP is age locked and gov can change the age at anytime (as they’re doing). No thanks.
