For those who are worried about having a dog who isn’t especially dog friendly, I would like to tell you about my dog Spot. He lived with me for 15 years in New York City and was unfortunately not friendly with most dogs. But we did a lot of work in the beginning for him to not worry about other dogs on the street when we went for walks. He absolutely adored people and cats. And my favorite memories are of us walking 20-30 blocks each way up and down Hudson River. I didn’t get to take him to dog runs, but that never mattered. Three times a day we ventured out and take in our neighborhood. There were drives to the beach, a few walks to Central Park, and one over the Brooklyn Bridge. I miss him dearly. It’s been 14 years and he will always be one of my greatest gifts.

We have 2 pretty dog reactive dogs and while we can’t go to dog parks, we go to the mountains and reservoirs and they’re the sweetest girls. They also love each other soooo deeply. It’s absolutely worth it as long as as you’re willing to work with them and make adjustments as needed. Mari is absolutely adorable and I hope she finds her furever home ASAP!

My rescue was just like this! Really struggled to get noticed because she wasnt good with other dogs! But she’s the kindest, sweetest most loveable girl! My brother fostered her for respite and I fell in love as soon as I met her.
