i think getting a hard top gazebo that can be up all year. or some kinda built in structure to cover the guest porch would be amazing. and then you could do the privacy blinds or curtains on there too. how amazing waking up and having cofee under a covered porch in the rain would be with that view. and it's only a few grand (I know that's still an expense but I think it would a great investment and I'd assume you can write it off?) id love to see a video about how improvements and if you can/do write them off! and again I'll always comment a solid door between you and guest for safety but also the noise difference is so insanely different with a solid door.

but here's the thing, they know its a shared space when they book. We stayed in an air bnb in Florida in a shared space and could somewhat hear the owner on the other side but not much.

Did you message them to ask ? Or am I reading this wrong ? Did they appreciate the privacy or felt there was no privacy ? If they felt no privacy I would ask specifically. Have you thought about a door at the top of the stairs too?

I tried doing that with a curtain and stuff, but I was just too much of a pain in the neck. I don’t think it really cut down on the sound. I tell people to keep the bath
