@yasmine__amour: I’m so tired of the messaging women receive about their bodies needing to look a certain way in order to be worthy of taking up space, wearing a bikini, or enjoying their lives. I can’t even tell you how many beach days, pool days, and vacations I spent worrying about how my body looked instead of being fully present for the experience. That was energy I can never get back. And the craziest part? The idea of a “bikini body” is completely made up. It’s taken a lot of work, but I’ve gotten to a point where I can wear a bikini, relax my body, and be present for the moments that I will never get to experience again. The thoughts about my body still cross my mind sometimes, but I don’t give them nearly as much attention or importance as I used to. Your body is not the most important thing about you.
