I’m telling you every single fucking day I think about self deletion. I have been a chronic pain patient for over 20 years. 23 to be exact. I wouldn’t wish this absolute hell on anyone I know. not even the doctors who made me worse. I’ve done everything Pain management has to offer and I have been stuck at the same dose and regimen for the last 13 years. Last month I went into my physician assistant, and I plead to her all of the things that I cannot accomplish anymore due to the pain that I experienced in my everyday life. She commented with With wow all of the things that you’re saying are valid. But this sounds like what I hear from my 70-year-old patients. Mind you, I’m 44. I’ve been on disability since 2021. I haven’t been able to work since 2017. I’m housebound and some days bedbound. The only time I leave my house is for the doctor or to pick up prescriptions. I honestly don’t even know why I’m alive still because I don’t enjoy any of this. If the day comes, I will write a letter and I will instruct my family members to sue the living shit out of every pain management doctor that I have ever had.

The response to the “opioid crisis” is fucking vile. JAMA released a study showing cancer patients, including end stage, being denied opioid medication and then stigmatized for needing it. My mother who passed this year had a chronic condition that required opioid pain medication which she had been stable on for years, she also had a benzodiazepine that she had taken, and was stable on for years as well. The VA cut her off both, cold turkey. No tapering, no support, nothing. She suffered a major medical event because of this that she never recovered from. I am positive had not this happened, she’d still be here.

Pain management isn’t just pain management, it’s also suicide prevention. Until you are in chronic pain every single day, you have no idea how hard it is, not just physically but mentally. It legitimately changes who you are as a person.

Pain management and overall health care in this country is broken. I am one of the fortunate ones with good pain management providers. I’m a RN and forced to retire early due my pain. I’m so sick of anyone in healthcare judging us. Thank you for your video.

I'm dealing with this right now. My pain Dr merged with another clinic and just retired. As soon as he left I saw one of the new providers who took over. In less than 5 minutes, with no exam and only spending 5 minutes to review my 24 year medical records which justify the treatment plan, he took away my 3 daily long acting opioid pills which is 45 mg in total, and is only letting me keep 4 of the quick acting meds leaving me 40 mgs total. No warning, no tapering, no nothing! While on the previous dose I was consistently at a 7, until I developed a new abdominal issue requiring surgery which puts me at a 10 some days...I was in the hospital 3 different times and I NEVER asked for more meds, just my usual daily dose while in the hospital. My surgical consult isn't until 7/10...earliest I could get in...so I'm legit dying. With how this went down, no warning, no chance to adjust or find a new Dr, and being in worse pain where I seriously can't do anything, I'm contemplating my next move. He said Dr X was too liberal with prescribing and asked what I was doing to help manage my pain. I explained it to him that b4 the abdominal issues I was doing PT, I had injections, and basically everything Dr X told me to do. He kept saying...what are YOU going to do to make YOUR pain better? I asked him whst HIS plan was since he is the pain mgmt dr and knows best how to treat pain. He said I'm taking your Morphine away...all of it. It's long acting so 3 are supposed to last 24 hours but they don't which is why I get 4 10/325 which last 4 hours...noted in my file they only last 4 hours. So I'm going from 7 on the pain scale with 24 hour coverage and now I'll be up to a 10 and might have the edge taken off for 16 hours? For a guaranteed 3-6 months until I can get an appt with a new Dr and or have surgery. I'm 53 and have lost everything else to this pain already so tell me what the point is especially knowing, on top of it all, I'm also going to be sent into withdrawals in the next day or 2. I don't know if these Dr's have a God Complex or if they are Sadists and just pure evil but my body, my health and my life isn't a game.

Pain management is no joke. My sister took her own life 2 years ago due to the same issue. She actually had to have pain medication due to a botched surgery that a surgeon had cut nerves. For years she managed her life on pain meds. Worked had a good life until the government decided to do cut backs. She endured cut backs, insurance changes, pill counts, having to get new doctors, and it becomes a psychological war on these pain patients if they will have any form of relief. They told her to switch to suboxen. No one helped her through that transition and it was on a weekend. Doctors office closed. She used her last dose of pain medication went into severe withdrawal and shot herself in the bathroom of her home while her husband was downstairs. We spoke on the phone everyday except that Sunday! She was not a suicidal person, had a gorgeous home, worked, had a nice life. There is no life with out pain relief. There is only so much a body can take when it is year after year, day after day, 24/7! These people go to great lengths to have other treatments. She had seen so many doctors to try other methods but none worked. She spent thousands. What worked was a simple plan of pain pills that were monitored every month by a doctor and she was denied that.

I don't know why we have to have pain clinics. Why can't our primary and specialists prescribe? Nobody originally seeks pain control, they seek a cure.
