It’s a desperate attempt to regain control when intimacy feels overwhelming. By creating distance, they keep love at a safe arm’s length. exactly what happened. To admit not to date someone else romantically was enough to close what we had and to offer friendship. I didn't do this and now we are separated. I assume he don't want to date but it pressured him. I'm still really sad about that
