The few people that I’ve known who took the Amtrak took it to see the country while they traveled. So yes, it takes longer, but you get to see a bit more than if you were doing the driving or if you were flying. It’s really about what you’re wanting to get from your travel experience.

I wish the rooms were cheaper so I could experience it...however just getting 2 seats is probably just as comfortable if you're short! That's what I did and I slept like a baby.

i spent about $200 on a ticket for NO to NY and i think that's a reasonable price??? ofc, it's coach, but the base ticket was the same as a plane's. (i have a fear of planes.)
