When you’re in Texas, everyone knows that the west begins after Fort Worth (going west). It’s crazy because places in East Texas, which are only like 2 hours from Dallas, are SO lush and beautiful. But if you go 2 hours west of Dallas, it’s a desert that’s dry and sandy.

The Dust Bowl was caused by a fatal combination of severe, multi-year droughts and destructive agricultural practices that stripped the Great Plains of its native, soil-anchoring grasses

That sounds awesome. I think adding thousands of data centers is gonna help that drought situation quite a bit.

You can see it when you drive the 8+ hours from one side of Texas to the other. The brush and trees get shorter and more sparse. Then the cacti and horizon get pointier. Here’s a picture of the dust covering the sun driving through west Texas. It was crazy to see!

as someone who has traveled west on a few different vacations, yes. you can tell when you hit that line. no gas stations or civilization for miles. just long winding roads and beautiful landscape. no wonder the aliens like it so much 👽😂

I’m basically on that line in Kansas. And yeah, it also is the reason there are tornados here. But in the last 10 years, especially, all of the tornados have shifted east. The weather newscasters even have talked about it. Albeit in very coded language because we’re a red state and climate change is a bad word around here. But it’s a real thing.

Planting the natural prairie grasses that were there before agriculture took over can help. That grass roots so deeply and holds in moisture and stand up to the wind. That’s what I’m doing at my farm.
