Not a common cold at all. It never goes away, I had to go to the ER several times to know what was going on. You need specific medicine like aciclovir and antibiotics if your blisters get infected. I get UTIs during my outbreaks because I get blisters inside me and they get infected (I'm a woman). It's so painful to continue with my life while I have an outbreak. I know it doesn't happen to everyone, but it happens. Please take care of you and your partners. You never know how others bodies are going to react. I also think it shouldn't be stigmatized, it's a virus like others and it's very common. But I wouldn't compare it with a cold.
